I started writing this song while gardening, and I finished it in an Irish pub. At the time, I was reading the series A Song of Ice and Fire, so this song reflects heavily on that.

Recorded on November 3rd, 2017 at the Kulturgießerei in Schöneiche, Germany.

The horns announced their arrival
And the violins, they did play
But all would be silent at the end of the day

They arrived by ship by the thousands
And docked safely in the bay
But all would be smoke and ashes by the end of the day

If things had just gone differently
This would be a tale of great romance
But all of the participants
Were just victims of unfortunate circumstance

Because the hoard came by the thousands
And laid the land to waste
And hundreds of mothers would have no sons by the end of the day

Thousands of mothers would have no sons by the end of the day

Ten thousand mothers would weep for their sons by the end of the day....
